Riders brilliant effort for charity’s Easter Egg Appeal

MORE THAN 30 big-hearted riders powered to glory for charity Ambition, Aspire, Achieve’s Kevin Jenkins OBE Easter Appeal on Saturday.

They arrived at the charity’s Terence Brown Arc In The Park, Canning Town base and delivered more than 350 Easter Eggs after battling their way through traffic and delays.

Chief Executive of Ambition, Aspire, Achieve (AAA) praised the bikers’ magnificent efforts every year since the Easter Appeal started nine years ago and said she looked forward to seeing them all again at Christmas for the charity’s Toy Appeal.

“We can’t thank you enough for your efforts.  The effects of children going without at Easter and Christmas can be devastating, and you should know what you have done is just tremendous. Many young people will be happy because of what you have done.”

John Pryke from Riders Who Want to Make a Difference and Triumph East London, in Romford,  who made their own Easter Egg collections, joined forces to mount the bike run from Romford to the charity’s main hub at the Arc, to drop off the eggs.

Cars also delivered some of the cargo before the main convoy arrived.

John said: “ It is great to see brand new faces as well as regulars at the event. We have also supported the charity’s  Christmas Toy Appeal for many years.” John also praised the marshals for navigating the difficult route in the sunshine.

Actor, writer, comedian and AAA patron Ricky Grover, made a plea for the public’s support for the initiative at the launch a few weeks ago.

The charity is aiming to get 2,000 Easter egg donations in time for Easter Sunday, in partnership with the Newham Recorder.

Requests have been coming in from schools and social services referring children in need to the charity, appeal co-ordinator Paula Blake said.

She added: “All those referred are often living in a family impacted by poverty and the gift of an Easter egg will at least be a lovely surprise, ensuring they can enjoy an Easter which other children may take for granted. The bikers support is vital.”

Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference. Give via AAA’s special JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/easter25 or purchase an egg directly through their Amazon wish list https://amzn.eu/4105v92

You can also drop off Easter Eggs at the Arc In The Park from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
