Nice discovery. Superb picture of Barking Road, Canning Town, one hundred years ago in 1920.
It’s almost like a model.
A Department of Transport photographer captured this one. Picture: Historic England Archives.

Hi Colin,
I am researching my family history & I’m struggling to find information regarding a company & its address. Would you be able to offer any advice regarding this company / place?
It is a company named “Bella Burnie Ltd (ship repairing)” on the 1921 census. The address given for the company is 27, Junction Street Canning Town. My grandfather worked as a labourer in the dry dock so the 1921 census states.
Looking forward to your reply.
Many thanks
Diane
