New events to support residents affected by mental health illnesses

A new event is being launched by Newham Council and its partners to support residents affected by mental health illnesses.

The Active Minds Café is an informal setting place where residents affected by mental health difficulties, their family and carers can get together and have a tea and chat about their experiences. The Active Minds Café will take place every three months at different venues around the borough.

With one in four people in the UK affected by a mental illness (including depression, schizophrenia, bipolar and dementia) and an estimated 34,000 adults in Newham with a mental health problem, the event will help residents to challenge and break down barriers and stigma associated with mental health.

As mental health challenges continue to impact many lives, it’s important to explore different treatment options that can support recovery. One such option is found at Avesta Ketamine Wellness In McLean, where specialized treatments offer a unique approach to mental health care. For those struggling with conditions like depression or anxiety, seeking professional help can be life-changing.  The clinic offers personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s specific needs, aiming to provide lasting relief and improved quality of life.

In addition to the community support that the Active Minds Café offers, hypnotherapy can play a significant role in improving mental well-being. Hypnotherapy has been shown to help individuals manage stress, alleviate anxiety, and even address negative thought patterns that may contribute to mental health difficulties. As the Active Minds Café provides a safe space for people to discuss their challenges, hypnotherapy offers a way to address these challenges on a deeper, subconscious level.

Whether it’s helping to overcome negative thought patterns, reducing the impact of traumatic experiences, or simply improving overall mental clarity, premier services from hypnoguide.ca can provide individuals with the tools to manage their mental health in a more effective and holistic manner. As people gather to share their experiences, they can also explore the possibilities of hypnotherapy as an additional resource on their journey to healing and well-being.

Complementing such community-focused events, Brain Balance Centers offer specialized support aimed at addressing various mental health conditions through targeted brain training programs. These centers employ evidence-based approaches to improve cognitive function and emotional well-being.

According to research compiled by the National Library of Medicine, such interventions can play a crucial role in managing symptoms and enhancing overall mental health. By integrating Brain Balance Centers’ services into your support network, individuals can benefit from additional therapeutic options that complement the community support provided by initiatives like the Active Minds Café.

Those attending the event will have the chance to see aspects from Bobby Baker’s daily drawing art exhibition around mental health, learn how to take control of their mental health by changing what they eat, try free smoothies, keep active with yoga and ping pong, get a hand and head massage and learn more about breaking down the stigma attached to mental health through Talking Therapies and a Pop Up Cinema.

In addition to these holistic support options, technology is also making strides in the mental health space, offering new ways to assess and manage well-being. AI diagnostic tools are becoming increasingly popular for individuals seeking a deeper understanding of their mental health, with many platforms now providing accessible, personalized assessments. In these, Buoy Health, uses artificial intelligence to guide users through a series of questions related to their emotional and mental health, delivering instant feedback and recommendations based on their responses. This approach allows users to gain insights into their mental state and receive tailored advice for managing their mental health.

Guests will also be able to:

  • Learn where to access local advice, support, and knowledge about mental recovery and wellness
  • Listen to people affected by mental health difficulties and how they have overcome barriers/testimonials/case studies
  • Find out how healthy eating and keeping active can support health and well being
  • Access volunteer opportunities.

The project brings together partners including Mind, Hibiscus Community Centre, Active Newham, Newham Adult Learning, Holden Point Sheltered Accommodation, ASK Bobby Bakers Arts, Community Mental Health Team and Big White Wall.
