RSPCA chiefs are trying to find a little home for lovely Jack Russell terrier Tosh.
Tosh was placed into kennels in March his owner was taken into hospital.
East London RSPCA’s Lorna Gowers said: “Regrettably his owner died about two weeks ago and he is now in the care of the East London RSPCA.
“Tosh is a healthy, lively nine-year-old. He needs someone with enough time for him. “Tosh barks at other dogs and unfortunately we don’t think he would get on with cats. He could possibly be homed with sensible older children.
Tosh’s owner was a retired man who obviously loved his dog dearly.
Said Lorna: “When a pet owner dies it is one of the saddest situations I see while dealing with homeless pets. I feel so sad for the owner who would never have wanted to be parted from his pet if he had a choice.
“Tosh is stressed in kennels as he has been there a long time now and he misses his owner. What Tosh desperately needs now is a responsible person who will give him all the love, dedication and attention that his deceased owner did.”
Lorna said: “We welcome calls from anybody interested in fostering or adopting Tosh. He will be vaccinated, neutered, health checked and there will be ongoing support to help him settle in with his new carer.”
A home vist will be arranged and if that is successful a meeting with Tosh will be arranged. Please call Lorna on 079585 78151 between 8pm – 10pm weekdays and anytime weekends.
Lorna also gave us a little bit of East End history in her plea to home tosh!
She said: “ The phrase ‘Alright Tosh’ is a greeting that was used in Victorian Times by East End Victorian Schoolboys. I can remember my dad using this affectionate expression. Tosh’s deceased owner had Cockney roots and used this affectionate expression to name his dog.”
