Ten-pin bowlers strike out for hospice charity

Kindhearted ten-pin bowlers have raised more than £300 for charity.

Members of the The Sunday Trios ten-pin bowling league at City Pavilion, in Collier Row, Romford, held their annual new season curtain raiser … and it was a real family affair for the Mitchell family.
Winner of the men’s handicap tournament was Paul Mitchell, with brother Bobby Mitchell second and Dean Kingston third.
The handicap women’s winner was Rachel Thacker, with Jeanette Mitchell, second and Rebecca Martin third.
The tournament was held in memory of bowler Brian Martin, who died after a heart attack while bowling when the league was based at the former GX Superbowl in Beckton. It raised £300 for HospiceCare in Exeter thanks to a generous gift from City Pavilion management, who gave back the bowlers match fees for the charity.  It is the 12th year the bowlers, have raised money for the hospice.
